Had a good food day yesterday too. I forgot that once you get back on the plan, it becomes second nature. When I'm in the zone like this, I don't understand why all those other days where I started and failed by dinner time were so hard. I have been back on my plan for a week and 2 days and I'm finding that I'm right back into my old routine finally. And it feels good! It feels good to be able to go home after work and keep busy until dinner time rather than lay around thinking about everything I want to eat! I have been really busy lately since my daughter has gone back to college so I don't have time to lay around and dwell on food. I came in under points yesterday, partly because I was busy. When I got home from work, I did some chores around the house and watched a little tv then I had to run to town to meet my Aunt to order a cake for this weekend's baby shower. By the time I got home it was 7:00 and I hadn't eaten since lunch! I usually have an afternoon snack but I had a higher points breakfast and lunch and didn't want to leave myself without enough points for dinner and dessert so I just had a bottle of water with a Crystal Light Lemonade pack and that was fine. Then I met my Aunt and by the time I got home I was running late to eat dinner. I was having Turkey Taco Salad again with the leftover turkey meat from the night before, but I was cooking dinner for the hubby who was working out of town and was going to be late coming home. More about that in a minute. So, by the time I showered, started his dinner and sat down to eat that put my dinner at about 7:30. It filled me up so that I didn't even want a dessert or bedtime snack. That left me with 3 points unused for the day. I'll detail my points and calories below.
Now, back to hubby's dinner. I made him bbq pork chops, cheesy scalloped potatoes and lima beans/corn. And it didn't bother me ONE BIT! You know why? Well, the cheesy potatoes are one of his favs but I can take them or leave them so those didn't bother me. And the bbq chops? Well, if you have been reading, you will know that I was CRAVING a bbq pork chop the other day. Had I not handled that craving, it would've gotten out of control, and just cooking those chops last night would've led to an all out feast. Yes, I would've downed 2 of those chops, and a big helping of those cheesy potatoes that I can take or leave. LOL. But, when my craving hit the other day, I made myself a boneless chop, weighed it, measured out my sauce and counted the 8 points and 315 calories in my daily allowance. Craving gone, plan intact. Now, that's not to say that I handle it that way ALL the time. This is a new tactic that I am trying.. to take a craving and give in to it. Yes, I said it, on my weight loss blog, GIVE IN TO MY CRAVING. Not in the way that I used to, but in a new way. Not as in go off my plan for a day and eat my weight in bbq pork chops, but as in choose 1 lean cut pork chop, weigh it, count it, enjoy it, and move on. I did it and it worked. I don't know if I'll do it everytime or if it will work everytime but we'll see.
Okay..on to yesterday's food:
