As I mentioned before, I count WW points and pretty much follow the WW plan. You really get ALOT of food on their plan..sometimes its hard to get all of your points in every day. For example, if you read my previous post which detailed what I ate yesterday, you will see that I only ate 23 points for the day. I'm allowed 27 points based on my height, weight, gender and activity level. Well let me tell you, I ate a good bit of food yesterday and even with a dessert and an afternoon snack, came in 4 points under for the day.
I think what happened yesterday was that I had overestimated for my meat at dinner. Now, I'm a big meat eater. I would rather have meat at dinner than carbs and I will forsake that rice for a bigger piece of chicken. Well, I had allotted 6-7 points just for the meat portion of my dinner last night. I was debating upon a boneless pork chop or some roasted chicken drumsticks that we had purchased from a home food delivery co. I had previously gone online and looked up the point values for the drumsticks and found that I could have 2 for 7 points. Well, I had never tried the drumsticks before and just assumed I would want two thinking they would be small. Well, when I opened the bag to cook dinner, the drumstick was HUGE. We are talking a Fred Flinstone style drumstick here. So, I KNEW that even though I had the points available, that it was too much portion-wise to have 2 drumsticks. So, I had just the one for 3 points and paired it with a small amount of carb (1/2 cup couscous) and 2 veggies. And it was plenty of dinner. That left me with 8 points left for the day. I used up 4 of them on a dessert and went to bed completely full with 4 points left.
Now, sometimes there are days like that..where I won't use all of my points. THEN, there are SOME days where my points are going fast and I don't feel like I'm getting enough! That is the mental part of food addiction where some days no matter how much you eat, it is not enough. But I can work my food choices in a way that I feel like I'm getting the most out of my points. Yesterday it happened accidently that I had extra points at the end of the day. It sometimes comes down to only 4 points to spare and do I want that bigger piece of meat or a dessert? Days like those are when I have to make choices. The choice between the meat or dessert. And the choice between finally sticking to this plan or blowing it all again. The choice is mine and only mine.
Here's how I did foodwise today:
Breakfast:
1 whole egg poached (2 pts, 70 calories)
1 Light Muligrain English Muffin (1 pt, 100 calories)
1 Turkey Sausage patty (1 pt, 60 calories)
Lunch:
Lean Cuisine Glazed Chicken (one of my favs!) (4 pts, 210 calories)
Afternoon Snack:
100 calorie packet of Goldfish (2 pts, 100 calories)
Dinner:
6 oz. boneless pork chop (8 pts, 315 calories)
2 tbsp. Sweet Baby Rays bbq sauce (1 pt, 70 calories)
1/2 cup lima beans (1 pt, 80 calories)
1 cup glazed carrots (2 pts, 90 calories)
Dessert:
Yoplait Delite Lemon Torte (2 pts, 100 calories)
Banana (2 pts, 129 calories)
Totals for today: 26 points, 1,324 calories, 84.5 oz. water
And I had been craving that pork chop since yesterday so I went ahead and had it and it was delicious!
Now, I won't have access to a computer this weekend so I won't post again until Monday. This weekend may be challenging for me. Tomorrow is moving my daughter to college lunch which I hope I handle well. Then I have the whole weekend planned to spend with the husband which usually means lunch out or a big meal cooked at home. I hope I'll be strong enough to balance enjoying my weekend with making good decisions. So, I'm off until Monday..do something fun, enjoy the weekend and enjoy doing you.
I'll be doing me,
Stacy
